MBT shoes (Masai Barefoot Technology) are the first physiological footwear that have a positive effect on the entire body. MBT’s physiological perception offers a totally new philosophy to the footwear industry. The health and fitness-enhancing concept behind MBT is based on simple principles. Swiss engineer, Karl Müller, inventor of MBT, discovered the beneficial effect of walking barefoot on natural ground and that the reason behind it was the stimulating effect of natural instability on the body’s supporting muscle system. Müller's research and development was inspired by the East African Masai tribe; exceptional athletes with well-shaped bodies and little or no experience of back and joint problems.
